Mandeville, LA – Why would a successful local business that started in Mandeville in 1993 decide to change their name now? “An aromatherapy side-business I started with my daughter Gretchen Halpin, experienced such an immediate national success that we decided to combine our businesses and create a unified brand in the health & wellness community,” explains Sharon Mathieu, owner of A Touch Of Health Day Spa. “It’s official, today we become Soothe Your Senses Spa and Aromatherapy Product line and we’re instantly a national brand.” A second spa, based on the French Quarter Townhome and the Louisiana Southern Hospitality, is in development in Chicago where the Soothe Your Senses aromatherapy products are manufactured and distributed at a national level to upscale retail boutiques and other professional day spas.

President and Founder of Soothe Your Senses Aromatherapy products, Gretchen Halpin continues, “Mom had come to me with her bath salt potion based on Louisiana’s French Creole traiteur healing and needed my help with packaging, that’s basically where it all started.” That bath salt became the Soothe Your Senses cornerstone and has grown into a 50-count product line comprising of massage, bath and body oils; bath salts; bath teas; eye teas; cane sugar scrub and salt loofah scrubs—all made from natural and organic ingredients in four aromatic scents. Sharon Mathieu is now the company’s VP of Development and Holistic Advisor.

Mathieu’s father was an original traiteur and remembers when locals use to come to her father for healing and potions. “It always fascinated me and obviously became a focus for my career. I love taking care of people, whether it’s with a healing massage or offering my homemade bread pudding or a bowl of hot soup, it’s inbred, this need to nurture,” claims Sharon. “Our Spa will still offer the same quality services for both men and women from the areas best spa professionals, we’ll just answer our phones “Soothe Your Senses Spa” and hopefully bring some national recognition to Mandeville highlighting our old-world traditions and rich history,” states Sharon.

Halpin continues, “The growth we’ve experienced with the Soothe Your Senses Aromatherapy Products has been amazing, along with the mysterious history of the traiteur traditions mixed with our complex-potion-formulas are creating quite a stir with our customers, demanding that we bring new products into development on a continuous basis.” A Soothe Your Senses aromatherapy baby line is the next extensive product launch, complete with a baby massage product, baby bath herbs, baby soap and baby nose wipes. It’s not hard to see why Halpin and Mathieu are excited about the future.
