For Immediate Release
November 8, 2005
Chicago, IL – Gretchen Halpin,
President of Soothe Your Senses LLC, is proud to open the doors
of her Soothe your Senses Day Spa today at 6260 North Broadway in
Chicago. A Grand Opening Party (invitation and press-only) was held
on Thursday, November 3rd, 2005 from 6 - 9 PM. The party was also
a benefit and welcomed special guest, Louisiana Fine Art Photographer,
Rod Broussard. All sale proceeds from the evening were presented
to the People’s Relief Fund.
A general open house for the public will be hosted
through out the day on Sunday, November 13th.
The newly constructed Day Spa is designed to bring
the unique style and flair of the French Quarter to the Edgewater
neighborhood of Chicago...a destination spa…without the drive.
The 3,000 square-foot space gives a respectful nod to the architectural
grace of the French Quarter town-home complete with the stylized
wrought iron balconies and hanging plants. Inside features the casual
elegance of a welcoming French Quarter home, complete with exposed
brick, wide plank flooring a warming fireplace, tempering our Windy
City weather, and of course, a strong dose of Southern hospitality.
“I moved to Chicago 5 years ago and wanted
to create a home for my new family,” says Halpin. “We
found our future in the Edgewater community and have been thrilled
to see the resurgence of the neighborhood and wanted to be a part
of the growth and revitalization.”
Gretchen continues, “Opening the Soothe Your
Senses Day Spa is just part of a long-term plan to encourage the
nurturing of ancient traditions into modern rituals. Bringing our
Soothe Your Senses Aromatherapy Products to market was a successful
first-step and now we’re hoping to experience the same success
by creating a safe spa cocoon where both men and women will kick
off their shoes and relax by the fire, breathing deep the soothing
aromas of Calming, Sensual and Rejuvenating spa therapies, and leave
us being better prepared, both inside and out, to embrace their
own personal rituals.”
The spa encourages Spa Select Memberships for the
serious spa-goer. Membership allows devotees to meet with a Well-Being
Counselor to assess needs and custom-select treatments and services.
Memberships provide special discounts, free add-on services and
member-only events and workshops.
Traditional Spa Services and Packages for both men
and women are available such as:
Gentlemen’s Indulgence; involves an exfoliating
sugar scrub for the body, an invigorating Vichy shower, and a relaxing
steam.
Ladies may also enjoy individual services such as
facials, body massages and treatments, manicure & pedicures
or special packages such as the Grand & Petite Bridal Packages.
A signature of the spa is “If Momma Ain’t
Happy” Package for the mom-to-be, includes pampering prenatal
services such as a bath consisting of aromatherapy blends of ginger,
chamomile and peppermint, relieving morning sickness. A Prenatal
Massage prepares her muscles for delivery and aids in circulation,
followed by a salt and mint foot soak to reduce swelling before
she receives a manicure and pedicure. She takes a break with raspberry
tea (which strengthens the uterian wall) and cooled grapes for fluid
retention. Then off to her customized facial before she enjoys a
healthful lunch. She truly will enjoy one her very last days she
has all to herself.
The spa opens officially to the general public on
Tuesday, November 8th, 2005. Appointments may be obtained by dialing
773.262.4246. For more information visit: www.sootheyoursenses.com
About Soothe Your Senses:
The Soothe Your Senses identity began with Gretchen Halpin’s
grandfather, Lawrence Mathieu, a practicing Creole healer called
a Traiteur. Lawrence made teas and healing salves of roots and plant
leaves from the woods of Lucy, LA. People would come to him for
healing and he would use the teas and salves, hold their hands and
say a prayer. He would touch the ailment and massage the location
using his potions. He passed these healing powers to his daughter
Sharon Mathieu, a massage therapist and the owner of a southern
day spa in a quaint turn of the century cottage (lost to Hurricane
Katrina) in a small Louisiana town of moss covered trees and Lake
Pontchatrain breezes.
Lawrence’s granddaughter, Gretchen Halpin now
carries on the healing tradition through the Soothe Your Senses
line of all natural and organic aromatherapy products for the bath
& body in addition to the new Chicago location of the Soothe
Your Senses Day Spa.
Soothe Your Senses products are available throughout
the United States in upscale retail boutiques and professional day
spas. For more information on the company and product portfolio,
